We have extensive experience producing many human and animal viruses.  Our cell culture group has worked with a wide variety of avian and mammalian cell lines.  Both suspension and anchorage-dependent lines are routinely cultured, and we have extensive experience propagating viruses in vitro. Our staff specializes in a range of inactivation methods on a variety of human and animal viruses.  We can also assist you in your studies by conducting viral spiking studies and performing antiviral drug assays.

Virus Production
ABI has many options available to allow researchers to customize their viral and bacterial preparations to fit their research needs.  When the purest products are needed, ABI’s Purified Virus assures the highest purity viral preparations.  When a high infectious titer is essential, ABI offers Direct Pelleted Virus, with concentrations available from 100X - 5000X.

Cell Banks
When your research requires cell banks, ABI can use your provided cell line to grow high-quality cell seed stocks and create Master or Working Cell Banks (MCB or WCB).

Virus Inactivation
Since inactivated viral and bacterial preparations are essential for some investigations, ABI offers custom inactivation for any infectious agent in our inventory.  Additionally, inactivations can be performed on samples submitted to ABI, or on custom viral or bacterial preparations.

Antiviral Drug Assays
When your research demands specific, precise antiviral drug assays, ABI will work with you to develop protocols and perform the assays that best suit your research needs.  Our experienced staff will help you explore the many options that we have available in order to determine the most effective protocols and assays for your study.  Studies include a written report that includes a summary, a detailed analysis, and a brief description of procedures and parameters.

Viral Spiking Studies
When your research requires infectivity validation on medical products and devices, ABI works with you to develop protocols that best suit your unique research needs.  Our experienced staff is trained to perform a variety of assays to confirm virus inactivation, and will help you determine the most effective assays to perform for your study.

Electron Microscopy
When your research requires high-resolution images of viral or biological specimens at an ultrastructural level, ABI’s Electron Microscopy (EM) department offers a wide range of options to suit your needs.  We provide the investigator with all of the recommended reagents and protocols needed to properly prepare their specimens for EM examination.
