Product Description: Full-length Recombinant HIV-1IIIB soluble - membrane anchor sequence deleted gp160 glycoprotein1 produced in Baculovirus Expression System. This protein is purified by immunoaffinity chromatography and has an apparent molecular weight of 140 kD.

Protein Concentration: [varies by lot] µg/mL determined by BCA protein assay using Bovine Serum Albumin as the standard.

Presentation: PBS

Purity: 95% pure as estimated by analysis of Coomassie blue stained SDS- PAGE.

Functional Activity: Immunoreactive in ELISA and Western blot (10-100 ng protein is recommended depending on the nature and affinity of the detection reagent) using monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies to HIV-1 gp160, as well as HIV-1 positive human sera. This protein binds to human T-cell receptor CD4 and activates human T-Lymphocytes (CD4+/ CD4-), in vitro.

Shipping and Storage:
This product is shipped frozen on dry ice. Store at -70°C upon receipt. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles as product degradation may result.
Safe Handling Recommendations:
This product has been produced and purified in the absence of infectious virus preparation. However, the protein is biologically active and could potentially generate a protein-specific immune response if an exposure incident were to occur. Therefore, ABI recommends handling this material under BSL-2 guidelines set forth in NIH-CDC HHS publication number (CDC) 93-8395.
