HIV-1 (IIIB Strain) p24 Purified Native Protein
Soluble native p24 gag protein of Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 (IIIB strain). This viral protein was isolated from culture medium of HIV-1 infected cells, lysed with 0.5% Triton X-100, and purified by immunoaffinity chromatography using mouse monoclonal antibody to HIV-1 p24.

This product is shipped frozen on dry ice. Store at -70°C upon receipt. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles as product degradation may result.
Upon thawing, centrifuge the vial for a few seconds to remove residual droplets from the lid.

How are ABI’s Viral Proteins supplied? All ABI proteins are supplied frozen on dry ice.
How are ABI’s Viral Proteins purified? Purification methodology varies according to the individual product requirements, as do the buffers in which the proteins are frozen.
How should ABI’s Viral Proteins be stored? We recommend that all proteins be aliquoted into single-use size portions and stored frozen at -70°C or below. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles as this will affect protein activity. Do not dilute and freeze – make final dilution just prior to use.
How are ABI’s Viral Proteins made? Native proteins are made in infected cells using cell culture. Recombinant proteins are made in various systems, generally yeast or baculovirus. All are screened for reactivity in ELISA and Western blot prior to selection.
Will ABI’s Viral Proteins work in ELISA? All ABI proteins work in ELISA. However, it is critical to use an appropriate primary antibody and conjugate dilution. Double-block titrations should be performed to determine the optimum use dilutions in your system.
Will ABI’s Viral Proteins work in Western blot? All ABI proteins work in Western blot according to the considerations mentioned for ELISA.
I’m getting good Western blot reactivity, but at the wrong molecular weight. What went wrong? It is not uncommon that different molecular weights are detected by electrophoresis due to different conformations. Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis of each protein for its reported molecular weight.
How is the protein concentration of ABI’s Viral Proteins determined? A modified BCA protein assay is used with Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as the protein standard.
