Advanced Biotechnologies now carries Human Influenza A/PR/8/34 Purified Virus Inactivated with β-Propiolactone.
Human Influenza A/PR/8/34 (H1N1) is considered a prototype strain of H1N1 subtype of Influenza A viruses and is most commonly used for experimental infection of ferrets and mice to study viral pathogenesis, immune response, and testing antiviral compounds. β-Propiolactone (β-PL) is a DNA alkylating agent that has been shown to be effective in the inactivation of viruses. β-PL chemically modifies viral DNA without affecting the immunogenicity or protein structure. After treatment with β-PL, infectious influenza A/PR/8/34 was completely inactivated as validated by cell culture based assay but retained viral morphology (by TEM) and antigens (by hemagglutination assay).
